2026 – 2027 Cycle
Pre-Kindergarten
Ages 3 – 4
ONUS Scholars Pre-K is a complete, advanced year of learning designed for the able 3- to 4-year-old — a full 36 instructional weeks built as four nine-week quarters, five days a week, with each day running about two hours. It is deliberately leveled to exit at Kindergarten-readiness so it feeds directly and seamlessly into ONUS Scholars Kindergarten: your child arrives at Kindergarten already knowing every letter and reading simple words, with real new ground still ahead. The year arcs through four themed quarters — Wonder, Explore, Connect, and Shine — and every week your child touches all nine strands, with Geography present from Week 1.
What your child will achieve
Nine strands, one year of growth.
Phonics & Reading
Daily decoding, fluency, and read-aloud, paced to the grade.
Knows all 26 letter names and sounds and the five vowels; hears beginning, middle, and ending sounds; blends and reads printed CVC words across word families; reads short CVC-plus-sight-word sentences; reads about 15 sight words.
Mathematics
Singapore CPA progression — concrete to pictorial to abstract.
Counts to 50 and skip-counts by 10s (previews counting to 100 and teen numbers as ten-and-ones); recognizes numerals to 20; adds and subtracts within 5 with objects; shows number bonds to 5; shares equal parts; compares length and weight; reads a simple picture graph. Uses Singapore Earlybird Kindergarten A into B.
Writing
From letter formation to long-form composition, step by step.
Writes own name and numerals 0–10; builds and writes CVC words; writes a short sentence with support; completes a capstone Pre-K Book.
Science
Reggio-style investigations the child documents themselves.
Completes inquiry-cycle investigations with journaling, including a full seed-to-seed plant study and a terrarium.
Geography & Social Studies
Mapwork, community, and the wider world as field study.
Names self, family, home, neighborhood, city, state, and country; identifies land and water; meets the continents and landforms. Present from Week 1.
Arts
Seasonal Waldorf art — watercolor, form drawing, handwork.
Performs in four family concerts and builds a portfolio bookended by two self-portraits; creates color art, life-cycle wheels, symmetry work, habitat scenes, and the capstone book.
Music
Singing, recorder, and rhythm woven through the week.
Grows from steady beat and body percussion to dynamics, tempo, and pitch, to rhythm patterns and counting songs; each quarter closes with a family concert.
SEL
Social-emotional learning built into circle time and reflection.
Practices one principled virtue per week — kindness, helpfulness, respect, patience, perseverance, honesty, gratitude, and more — through role-play, real tasks, and a daily closing reflection.
Practical Life
Montessori care of self and environment — the work that grounds the day.
Progresses through hand washing, pouring, spooning, dressing frames, food prep, cleaning, plant and terrarium care, and helps host the quarterly showcases.
How the five methods show up here
Five lineages, each week.
Montessori
The daily backbone: sandpaper letters, practical life, sensorial work, and a prepared environment, present every single day.
Singapore Math
Every math concept moves Concrete → Pictorial → Abstract, with a short daily Singapore Earlybird Kindergarten session (A into B) — the right level for this age.
Reggio Emilia
The child as researcher: a daily nature journal, a wonder wall, and a year-long portfolio anchor science and geography.
Waldorf
A predictable daily and seasonal rhythm, arts woven into every strand, and natural materials throughout.
World Book
Scope-and-sequence alignment so families can confirm strong, on-track Kindergarten readiness.
The year at a glance
